Dear Silverthorne Families:

Today is the start of meteorological spring, and it couldn’t come soon enough!  All of our staff have either been vaccinated or are waiting to be vaccinated, but have had the Coronavirus and therefore have the antibodies. Many of our participants have had their first vaccine shot, and are scheduled for the second.  We are keeping track as people get vaccinated so please email or let a team member know when your loved one receives a shot.  My hope is that once we are all vaccinated that we can resume our live entertainment!  I know that’s what I have missed the most during this pandemic.

Attached you will find a great calendar of events for March.  Please note that this Friday we are wearing blue to highlight colon cancer awareness.  On Monday the 15th we will be wearing our PJ’s, and on Friday the 26th we will be wearing purple for Epilepsy Awareness Day.

Thank you all for the donations of canned goods and non-perishable foods during the past couple of weeks.  We brought everything over to the food pantry at the Pleasant St. Church in Salem for which they were very grateful.

In honor of one of our participants, we are seeking monetary donations for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.  MS is an unpredictable disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and the body.  No two people have exactly the same symptoms, and each person’s symptoms can change or fluctuate over time.  The progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted.  Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, with at least two or three times more women than men being diagnosed with the disease.  If you’d like to donate please make your check out to the National MS Society and we will send it in honor of our member.   For more information you can check out their website at nationalmssociety.org.

Just a reminder that we do offer shaves, showers, haircuts/colors and a toenail clinic right here at Silverthorne, and be sure to follow and like us on Facebook.  Jess does a great job of keeping it up-to-date and giving you a glimpse of what we do during the day.

Best regards,

Maria

Dear Silverthorne Families and Friends,

As we are heading into the time of year that we are likely to experience inclement weather, I wanted to be sure that we all have the same information.
